This summer, the ever popular Yard House, has changed things up a bit and added some bold new flavors. Last month, Yard House locations in South Beach and Boca Raton introduced new menu items along with new handcrafted cocktails that debuted nationwide.
The new items included a delicately crisp take on chicken wings made with duck wings, a sweet and spicy combination of spicy fried chicken and sweet potato pancakes as well as reinventing their version of the California roll. Another savory addition to their menu included a favorite for cheese lovers everywhere, fried Cheese Curds, ( available in all Yard House locations throughout the US)- yummmmy!
I was lucky enough to pay a visit to the South Beach location and have a taste of the new menu and I was left wanting for more. To start, the California Roll, this not so ordinary take on a sushi is a deconstructed roll with layers of crispy rice, crab, tomatoes, avocado, cucumber, serranos, masago, nori, mirin soy, and cilantro. I could eat this all day, everyday. Not too heavy, great balance of flavors and you get the crispy and the soft textures all in one bite.
After, I moved on to the Crispy Duck Wings served with an herb salad, maple soy glaze, sesame seeds, red onions, serrano chiles. Perfect to pair with any cold brew. Finally, it was time to take a stab at the Nashville Hot Chicken. I’m not a huge fan of spicy food, but this plate was just too good to pass up so I braved a little spice to indulge in the perfectly crisp chicken breast served with fried sage, sweet potato pancakes, pickles, ranch dressing, and honey hot sauce. This dish is not for the faint, level of hotness is definitely up there so I suggest having one of their new handcrafted cocktails on hand to cool you off.
The, award-winning restaurant known for its wide selection of draft beers has also stepped their game up when it comes to the cocktails adding five new handcrafted cocktails to please any drinker. The new collection of adult concoctions debuted just two weeks ago and will be made using premium spirits along with Yard House’s own house-made citrus agave blend coupled with seasonal fruits and vegetables.
“The art of cocktailing has returned,” said Gregory Howard, manager of beverage for Yard House. “In recent years shows like Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire have given new life to long forgotten drinks. Just like a good meal, creating a great cocktail also requires using premium ingredients as well as a seasoned bartender who knows his or her craft.”
Some of the new cocktails on the menu:
Blood & Smoke – a blood orange and ancho chili spiced margarita made with Del Maguey “Vida” Mezcal, El Jimador Silver Tequila, Ancho Reyes, Monin Blood Orange, house-made citrus agave and aromatic bitters poured into a salt-rimmed glass
Bourbon Berry Sour – made with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, house-made citrus agave, Dekuyper Razzmatazz, orange bitters with fresh raspberries for added sweetness
Hibiscus Rose – a refreshing herbal and botanical gin martini featuring Bulldog Gin, St. Germain & Lillet Blanc with orange bitters and Monin Hibiscus
Sidecar – this classic cocktail steps into the 21st century with D’Ussé VSOP Cognac, Cointreau and house-made citrus agave poured into a glass rimmed with sugar
Cucumber Citrus Tonic – a spa-like drink made with Bulldog Gin, Aperol, house-made citrus agave, tonic, freshly-sliced cucumber and orange plus orange bitters
My favorite, the Bourbon Berry Sour, perfect summer cocktail to enjoy day or night.
Yard House, open daily for lunch, dinner and late-night dining, the collection of new handcrafted cocktails went nationwide and available at all Yard House locations.
